CEMEX Ready Mix Concrete Plants Qualify for Energy Star Challenge for Industry Award

Houston, Texas - February 17, 2015

Nine Ready Mix Concrete Plants in Texas and New Mexico achieved 10% or more energy reduction.

CEMEX USA is pleased to announce that nine of its Ready Mix concrete plants in Texas and New Mexico have achieved 10 percent or more energy reduction and qualified for ENERGY STAR® Challenge for Industry award.

The challenge helps and promotes industrial sites to participate by committing to the pre-established goal of reducing energy intensity by 10% within 5 years or less. Collectively, these recognized CEMEX ready mix plants cut energy intensity by an average of 21 percent by the replacement and use of more energy efficient parts and equipment such as dust collectors, conveyor belt pulleys, and lighting.

"CEMEX is committed to sustainable practices throughout our operations and these awards are a reflection of our ongoing commitment to be stewards of the environment through effective energy management practices,” said Scott Ducoff, President, CEMEX’s Texas/New Mexico Region. “We are honored to be recognized by the EPA and ENERGY STAR for our commitment to sustainable practices.”

The Ready-Mix plants that received the recognition in Texas are Arcola Ready Mix Plant, Iowa Colony, TX; Tomball Ready Mix Plant, Tomball, TX; Cutten Ready Mix Plant, Houston, TX; Webster Ready Mix Plant, Webster, TX; Edinburg Ready Mix Plant, Edinburg, TX; Harlingen Ready Mix Plant, San Benito, TX; and Section 10 Ready Mix Plant, El Paso, TX. In New Mexico are the La Luz Ready Mix Plant, La Luz, NM and the Ruidoso Ready Mix Plant, Ruidoso, NM.

“Achieving success with the ENERGY STAR Challenge for Industry demonstrates CEMEX’s continuous commitment to strong energy management practices that benefit the environment, our company and our customers,” said Bhaskar Dusi, Corporate Energy Manager - Process Technology & Sustainability, CEMEX USA.

CEMEX is a corporate partner of the ENERGY STAR® program and is an active proponent of the importance of energy efficiency.
