333,000 Cubic Yards of Concrete Will Complete Phase One of the Purple Line in 2023 with Twin-rail Subway and Three Underground Stations in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills

LOS ANGELES – CEMEX USA is nearing its first milestone of delivering 50,000 cubic yards of ready-mix concrete for phase one of the Purple Line Extension, an expansion of a subway network which is set to transform multi-city transit across Los Angeles.

The first phase of the project is expected to be completed in 2023, for which CEMEX is expected to supply more than 300,000 cubic yards of concrete, and includes a 3.9-mile section of twin-rail subway and three underground stations in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills: Wilshire/LaBrea, Wilshire/Fairfax and Wilshire/La Cienega. The Metro Purple Line Extension will eventually connect West Los Angeles to the region’s growing rail network and provide a high-speed transit option for people to travel between regional cities, such as Miracle Mile, Beverly Hills, Century City and Westwood.

This milestone is being achieved primarily from the company’s Hollywood CA facility, which has been serving the Los Angeles area for over 90 years.

Skanska, the developer that is leading the project, previously reported that CEMEX USA was selected for the Purple Line Extension based on its reputation, safety record and unique capabilities.
