CEMEX USA announced today its philanthropic arm, the CEMEX Foundation, has awarded grants to more than twenty different non-profit organizations across California, and the funding is expected to help provide food, housing, childcare, access to education and other vital support to communities in need as part of the company’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“CEMEX is honored to be a part of communities in California, as it has been for over 100 years, and through many crises together. As soon as COVID-19 was upon us, we faced this crisis head-on in taking initiative to protect lives and to help our neighbors in need,” said CEMEX USA President Jaime Muguiro. “We knew that we have to make sure that we contribute to direct recovery efforts and support the great work of non-profit organizations across California and the country.”

CEMEX representatives have delivered grant checks on behalf of the CEMEX Foundation to help fund local efforts conducted by non-profit organizations in Los Angeles, Oakland, Fresno, Victorville, San Francisco, Sacramento, among others.

“The losses caused by COVID-19, in lives and livelihood, and the toil it continues to take on families and our communities is immeasurable,” said CEMEX USA Regional President—California Region Francisco Rivera. “At CEMEX, we are united with the communities where we live and operate, and so we are humbled to do what we can to support our neighbors during this challenging time. We are proud to be able to present these grants from the CEMEX Foundation to help give needed funding to non-profit organizations that are doing so much to directly provide to our communities.”

Among more than twenty contributions to individual non-profits, the CEMEX Foundation has awarded grants to the following organizations to support their work in helping care for the basic needs of our communities in California:

Los Angeles Regional Food Bank in Los Angeles, Calif.
20,000 meals to families and individuals in need across Southern California are provided for through the grant. This assistance is critical to sustain those who have lost income or are in lower-income communities.

St. Vincent’s Meals on Wheels in Los Angeles, Calif.
Hot and cold meal kits have been supplied to more than 2,000 homebound seniors throughout Los Angeles through the donation. This serves as a safety net for a particularly vulnerable population.

East Los Angeles Women’s Center in Los Angeles, Calif.
Through this donation, the center provided 200 pantry bags with meals to families, shelter to 60 families and personal protection equipment (PPE) to 300 front line workers.

Power of One Foundation in Santa Ana, Calif.
The grant supports farmers who are on the front lines as essential workers providing food for others while dealing with losses themselves. More than 2,000 meals are supplied to both the local community and agriculture workers through this donation.

Victor Valley Rescue Mission in Victorville, Calif.
The grant helps to provide food, clothing, and shelter to neighbors in need in Victorville. This support is especially critical due to supply chain vulnerability amid increased demand.

Racing New Heights Foundation in Riverside, Calif.
The contribution helps to support the organization in addressing a 30 percent increase in housing needs for disabled veterans throughout Riverside and San Bernardino counties through housing vouchers, bus passes for transportation, food and clothing.

Hively in Pleasanton, Calif.
Single-parent families and essential workers are provided with continuing childcare services through the grant. Childcare supplies and other needed items are also made available.

Heart of Los Angeles Youth Inc. (HOLA) in Los Angeles, Calif.
HOLA provides at-risk youth with access to free programs in academics, arts and athletics to help fully develop their potential. In light of COVID-19, they seek to mitigate disruptions in student education, economic stability, and mental well-being.

The grants are part of a nationwide program established by the CEMEX Foundation to support efforts of non-profit organizations in communities where CEMEX operates to combat the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
