CEMEX USA announced today that its philanthropic arm, the CEMEX Foundation, has awarded grants to more than 15 non-profit organizations across Texas, and the funding is expected to help provide food, housing, foster care, financial aid and other vital support to communities in need as part of the company’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The entire CEMEX organization recognizes the crises faced in our communities, and I am so proud of the team’s response in uplifting our neighbors who are in most need at this time,” said CEMEX USA President Jaime Muguiro. “We knew that we had to contribute to direct recovery efforts and support the great work of non-profit organizations across Texas and the country.”
CEMEX representatives have delivered grant checks on behalf of the CEMEX Foundation to help fund local efforts conducted by non-profit organizations in several Texas communities including Houston, Kingwood, Pearland, Katy, Hockley, New Braunfels and the Rio Grande Valley.
“The ongoing impact of COVID-19 has been devastating to many individuals and families in our communities across Texas,” said CEMEX USA Regional President—Texas Region Scott Ducoff. “At CEMEX, we pride ourselves on being good neighbors in the communities where we live and operate, and so we are bound to help lift up our neighbors during this uniquely challenging time. We are humbled to present these grants from the CEMEX Foundation to help the hard-working non-profit organizations across Texas that are serving our community members in need.”
Among more than 15 contributions to individual non-profits, the CEMEX Foundation has awarded grants to the following organizations to help address basic needs in Texas:
- DePelchin Children's Center in Houston, Texas
The grant helps to provide training for foster families to adapt to the increase in children entering the child welfare system during this time. Technology and other tools are supported in order to sustain these critical services. - New Braunfels Food Bank in New Braunfels, Texas
The donation allows the Food Bank to provide food distribution and additional services to meet increased needs throughout the pandemic. - Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley in Pharr, Texas
The grant helps the food bank support families who are facing food insecurity due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley has been supporting roughly 95,000 people weekly since the beginning of the pandemic. - Pearland Neighborhood Center in Brazoria County, Texas
The grant supports aid to families affected by COVID-19 through a food bank and financial aid for utility payments and rent. The support also supplies families with diapers and other baby products, as well as low-cost medical services.
These grants are part of a nationwide program established by the CEMEX Foundation to support efforts of non-profit organizations in communities where CEMEX operates to combat the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
