CEMEX, Inc. provided the following statement regarding the new Soledad Canyon legislation introduced today:

For more than a decade, this project has been on hold. It is an important one that would provide a much needed resource in LA County and Southern California. Home foundations, schools, freeways and roads simply cannot be constructed without this resource without adding significant cost.

We are not prepared to renounce the rights we have acquired from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and through every court challenge without full compensation including costs incurred in the last 20 years. We are continuing to move forward with the project planning as we watch the legislative process.
