Houston Mayor recognizes CEMEX for cleanup efforts - Houston Mayor recognizes CEMEX for cleanup efforts - CEMEX USA
Houston, TX - November 28, 2005
Two times this year, employees from CEMEX's corporate office scoured more than 48 blocks of a highly visible neighborhood on the edge of downtown Houston, removing more than 600 bags of unsightly litter. After each of the cleanups, a noticeable difference could be seen in the areas of the cleanups - and now even Houston Mayor Bill White has noticed.
On November 21st, the Mayor awarded CEMEX with an Honorable Mention at his Mayor's Proud Partner's Awards Luncheon. During the luncheon, organizations and projects that helped make Houston a cleaner and more beautiful city were recognized. The awards were given to express appreciation for the volunteer efforts which played an important role in improving the environment, enhancing quality of life and building community pride. They were given in the following categories: Mayor's Proud Partners, Certificate of Recognition and Honorable Mentions.
Mayor White is pleased with the volunteer efforts he has seen in the city. "We rely on civic groups, schools, individuals, businesses, agencies and organizations to provide important community leadership for improving areas throughout the city," said the Mayor. "I am very proud of the ingenuity and initiative demonstrated by each of this year's winners, to Keep Houston Beautiful."
