Long-Awaited Southern Arizona Hospital Serves Needs of Growing Community - Long-Awaited Southern Arizona Hospital Serves Needs of Growing Community - CEMEX USA
Retirees and sun-loving residents have been flocking to Green Valley, Ariz., for decades to enjoy its warm climate, recreational facilities, cultural venues and the scenic panorama of the Santa Cruz Valley. But for many years, area residents in need of acute medical care had to drive nearly 30 miles to Tucson for treatment.
That all changed with the construction of the Green Valley Hospital.
The facility, a 50-bed unit complete with an emergency department, helicopter pad, surgical suite, pharmacy, full-service laboratory and blood bank, was designed to meet the specific medical needs of Green Valley and the surrounding community.
CEMEX supplied subcontractor Hardrock Concrete Placement with 12,000 cubic yards of concrete for the construction of the building. During the placement of the concrete, Hardrock and CEMEX worked with the surrounding communities on traffic patterns and noise restrictions to avoid disrupting everyday life.
“Hardrock Concrete Placement is improving the lives of Southern Arizona residents with their work, particularly with projects like the Green Valley Hospital,” CEMEX USA West Region President Eric Wittmann said. “This project met a real need within the community, and CEMEX was proud to supply the concrete that helped our customer make a difference.”
The hospital was also built with an eye on the future. It’s designed for easy expansion if necessary to meet the changing medical needs of the growing region.
