What are Supplementary Cementitious Materials?

Used to enhance your concrete mix, Supplementary Cementitious Materials (SCMs) supplement, or replace, a portion of cement within a concrete mix to improve the concrete's overall properties. Two of the most popular and prominent SCMs commonly used in our concrete mixes are Fly Ash and CEMSlag (Slag Cement).

Fly Ash

Fly Ash, a coal-derived pozzolan endorsed by the U.s. EPA, enhances concrete mixes by replacing some cement. Its applications Include ready-mix concrete, soil stabllization, and structural fill, offering benefits such as improved strength, durability, and reduced cracking and permeability.

CEMSlag

CEMSlag, Cemex's slag cement, is a recycled material from steel production, finely ground for optimized mix designs. Ideal for diverse concrete applications, it offer: benefits like reduced emissions, increased strength, improved workability, lower heat hydration, reduced permeability, and sulfate resistance, ensuring both environmental sustainability and durability in construction projects.

Type Il - Moderate Sulfate Resistance

Type Il cement is the preferred option when:
• Concrete is exposed to moderately aggressive environments
•Groundwater and soil sulfate levels are elevated
• Moderate heat generation during hydration is required

Type III - Low Heat of Hydration

This cement provides high early strength compared with Type I. Type Ill has much finer particles than other cements and shorter set times. Its finely ground particles and shorter set times make it perfect for precast and prestressed concrete projects requiring swift formwork turnaround.

Type V - High Sulfate Resistance

Crafted for structures facing severe sulfate challenges, Type V Portland Cement is the solution for environments with high sulfate content in soils or groundwater. Wnlle it gains strength slower than type, it ensures lasting durabilly in the most demanding conditions.
